FIDEL CASTRO
         by Oliver Brown

Fidel Castro liked to play baseball
Fidel Castro liked to play baseball
Fidel Castro liked to play baseball
Fidel Castro liked to play baseball

His fastball moved with such velocity
They asked him to pitch for Washington, D.C.
But through the spring he couldn't find the plate
Was it a blister or was it the hand of fate?
Or was it a blister on the hand of fate?

Whatever it was, he didn't make the team
Fidel's future held a different scheme
Back home to Cuba to lead a planned attack
Look it up in any almanac

They say his bravery gave the troops their will
They say he demonstrated shrewed political skill
They say he had a historic duty that he must fulfill
Others like to say instead
'Now look what power does when it goes to your head.'

Now let's just say Sid Hudson sprained his calf
And instead Castro made that pitching staff
And he found a groove and made Rookie of the Year
And blossomed into a pretty good career

What difference did Castro really make?
And how do you define a lucky break?
Did Cuba really need Fidel at all?
Fidel Castro liked to play baseball

Fidel Castro liked to play baseball
Fidel Castro liked to play baseball
Fidel Castro liked to play baseball
Fidel Castro liked to play baseball
That's all.
